Dr Blair Norwood (DC)

You may have guessed by the pictures and the name that Rosemary and I are husband and wife and both chiropractors. Yes, we work together, live together, eat sleep and breathe together – luckily we like each other just a bit! Although I’m not going to lie…I can drive her crazy sometimes too!

We have 2 active boys, Oli and Zack and when we’re not looking after our wonderful clients in the practice, we’re usually on the side of the cricket pitch, soccer or rugby field, swimming pool or at the beach cheering them on. That’s after I may have been able to squeeze in an early morning surf that is. I’m a hugely outdoorsy person. I love to surf, ski, mountain bike, dive, fish and hunt.

Now I know you’re expecting me to say this BUT…I’m super passionate about what we do! we love living the busy, active, healthy, life…and I love empowering others to do the same.

So what lead me to become a chiropractor….

Well, I was first introduced to chiropractic after my father received life changing results for his chronic debilitating migraines through chiropractic care. It truly changed his life. The health changes and benefits that I then experienced after I started my chiropractic care, as a result, really got me interested.

So, while completing degrees in Nutrition, Physical Education and Physiology at Otago Uni, I was inspired by the same chiropractor (Dr Brett Ireland) who cared for my father to become a chiropractor myself. I moved to Auckland and studied chiropractic at the NZ College of Chiropractic graduating back in 1999.

My journey then took me back to Palmerston North where I went on to work with and then take over Brett’s 2 very successful practices in both Palmerston North and Fielding. We served and cared for the people of the Manawatu for 17 years before moving to Mount Maunganui in 2015 in search of the sun, surf and incredible lifestyle that the Bay has to offer.

I’ve been in practice for many years (almost 2 decades, in fact – wow where has that time gone?), and I’ve become pretty good at it.  I have cared for all ages, stages and walks of life, the weekend warrior through to the international sports star. My youngest practice members are often only days old and my current oldest patient is 97. One of my proud moments in practice was looking after four generations of one family on the very same day!

I’ve achieved a level of mastery that enables me not only to provide incredible care for our practice members but provide mentorships, as was done so well for me, to less experienced chiropractors too – something I love to do!

I wholeheartedly believe that the human body is an amazing organism that is designed to self regulate, coordinate and is therefore capable of healing itself. Chiropractic care is a truly amazing way to remove the interference to help it to do that. I’d love to help everyone understand that regular chiropractic care is an essential part of looking after your whole body and living a life of health, wellness and vitality.

I look forward to getting to know you and your family. In the meantime, you can watch a few of my videos on Facebook here. I hope you find them helpful!
